After all the recent violence directed at democrats who passed health-care reform, after the FBI broke up a terrorist plot by a Christian militia group, after President Obama offered an olive-branch to the Tea Party movement, guess what we’re hearing from the Right?
More of the same.
Praise for Sarah Palin, and her “reload” rhetoric. Anger at the FBI for targeting Conservative Christians. And a big fat “No thanks.” to the President’s call for peace.
Now, Palin can say whatever the hell she wants to. But calling out the news media for reporting acts of violence? If she had any balls, she’d tell her rabid followers to ratchet it back a little. That’s what McCain did in 2008, and he deserves credit for that.
The FBI wasn’t “targeting Christian Conservatives”. They stopped a plot to kill cops. Isn’t that their job? No one is lumping these lunatics together with the larger, somewhat normal group. Well, except many on the right, claiming the FBI is guilty of political profiling.
The moment the President finished speaking on the Today Show, incensed Tea-Partiers started banging away on their keyboards. Obama’s a commie. Obama’s a Kenyan. A Muslim. The anti-Christ. We want our America Back. Et cetera, et cetera, ad-nauseum.
As to the title of this post. For better or worse, we live in the Digital Age. The foundation of which is that all reality can be broken down into ones and zeros. Everything is either black or white. Good or evil. The switch is either on or off. Period. In politics, that means you’re either on the Left or the Right. You side with Palin or Obama. There is no middle ground.
We can’t sustain this self-destructive mentality. The world isn’t black or white. In the real world, there are a million shades of gray.

Since their inception the Teaparty crowd (not a movement since they do have the numbers or clout) have been “haters not debaters”. In my opinion this is what the small portions of the republican party of “birthers, baggers and blowhards” have brought you. They are good at “Follow the Leader” of their dullard leaders, they listen to Beck, Hedgecock, Hannity, O’Reilly, Rush and Savage and the rest of the Blowhards. Are you surprise at what they do when you know what they think? The world is complicated and most republicans (Hamiliton, Lincoln, Roosevelt) believe that we should use government a little to increase social mobility, now its about dancing around the claim of government is the problem. The sainted Reagan passed the biggest tax increase in American history and as a result federal employment increased, but facts are lost when mired in mysticism and superstition. Although some republicans are trying to distant themselves from this fringe most of them are just going along and fanning the flames. Lets face it the Republicans had 8 years to deal with health care, immigration and financial oversight and governance and they failed. They could not even win one of the two wars they started, the body bags are still coming in. The Republicans wanted to give Obama his Waterloo defeat over healthcare but instead they gave themselves their own Waterloo defeat by not participating in the debate of ideas and by becoming the party of obstructionist. But they now claim they have changed, come on, what sucker is going to believe that?

All I’m saying is the way the nation is so polarized right now is not a good thing.
Scott–this is one of the worst “irrelevant analogies” I have seen. Data being incoded digitally has NOTHING to do with our social system/politics/culture. Get a grip. Its the software!!!!!
